این دستگاه مانند جاروبرقی عمل می کند وقدرت مکش آن بین ۱۰ تا ۱۵ برابر ساکشن های معمولی می باشد جریان هوا با سرعت ۱۵۰ تا ۲۰۰ کیلومتر درساعت عبور می کند وقدرت مکندگی آن حدود ۵۰ لیتر آب دردقیقه می باشد و مواد جامد و مایع از فاصله ۱۰ تا ۱۵ میلی متری دهانه سرساکشن مکیده می شود . این فاصله درساکشن پرتابل بین ۳ تا ۵ میلی متر می باشد .
نکته مهم : یونیت باید دارای (separator) جداکننده آمالگام باشد که اکثرا یونیت ها فاقد این مهم می باشد آمالگام به فاضلاب وارد شده که علاوه برمشکلات زیست محیطی فاضلاب راهم مسدود می نماید . لازم به ذکر است که بعد از هر مریض یک یا دو لیوان آب ساکشن شود تا مسیر لوله ساکشن تا فاضلاب تمیز گردد.

لایت کیور از دو کلمه لایت( Light )به معنی نور و کیور به معنی ( Cure ) به معنی معالجه و درمان ساخته شده است و بصورت کلی برای نور درمانی استفاده میشود. برای پرکردن دندان از مواد مختلفی استفاده می شود که عبارتند از آمالگام ، سرامیک ، کامپوزیت ، طلا و… که دکتر دندانپزشک بر حسب شرایط یکی از آنها را انتخاب می کند. از بین مواد گفته شده، کامپوزیتها باید برای خشک شدن مدتی را در معرض تابش نور دستگاه لایت کیور قرار گیرند.
